About PESTALTO
Pestalto Environmental Health Services Inc. was established in 1999 and was well positioned to respond to the West Nile virus outbreak in the North Eastern United States and the impending threat to Canada. Having the company founder engaged in the design and implementation of vector control programs for other Vector Borne diseases such as St. Louis Encephalitis and many nuisance biting flies programs proved to be a valuable resource in this new fight which continues to present day.
Today, PESTALTO is a Canadian leader in successfully implementing integrated vector mosquito/biting fly management programs using environmentally compatible management strategies and proven technology. Our employees are fully trained and licensed to develop and implement all aspects of operational integrated biting fly management programs.
We are Canadian distributor for a number of lines of vector control equipment, and control products. In cooperation with Makhteshim Agan and Tumaini Controlled Release Technologies we have developed a slow release, long lasting novaluron larvicide formulation, Mosquiron. PESTALTO is also a sales agent for MOSQUIRON.
As a proponent of integrated vector control management and to enhance the profile of MOSQUIRON, Dr. Tyler and his team at PESTALTO have travelled to Ethioapia, Southern Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana, Mexico, China, and the United States to speak at conferences, and deliver knowledge to enhance these countries effective response to vector control disease.

Dr Barry Tyler
Dr. Barry Tyler, a retired consultant with Pestalto Environmental Health Services Inc., is a Canadian specialist in entomology and ecology with a particular focus on integrated pest management. Throughout his career, Dr. Tyler has made significant contributions to pest control efforts both in Canada and abroad. His professional goal has been to reduce the impact of mosquito-borne diseases through the effective implementation of fully integrated vector management programs.
In the late 1980s, Dr. Tyler played a key role in introducing biological products containing Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (Bti) into North American markets. Bti, a natural mosquito and black fly pathogen, replaced chemical larvicides across Canada, marking a major shift toward environmentally safer pest control methods.
In response to the West Nile virus outbreak in the northeastern United States and its potential threat to Canada, Dr. Tyler founded Pestalto Environmental Health Services Inc. in 1999. The company provides environmentally friendly, full-service approaches to controlling nuisance and vector biting flies.
Since 2001, Dr. Tyler has served as President of the Ontario Vector Control Association, offering leadership in the integrated management of mosquito vectors, particularly those related to West Nile virus. He is also the newsletter editor for the Asian Society of Vector Ecology and Mosquito Control, a member of the American Mosquito Control Association, and an active participant in various regional mosquito control associations in the U.S.
