If you answered “YES” to any of the above questions, you may be interested in a summer work opportunity with
Pestalto Environmental Health Services Inc. Morgan Tyler and PEHS are leading experts in the biological
control of mosquitoes that carry West Nile virus as well as other diseases such as Zika virus and Dengue.
We are looking for college or university students to work on West Nile Virus mosquito control programs in
regional mosquito management abatement programs. Pestalto has been contracted by Public Health and Emergency Services in an effort
to reduce the spread of WNv in urban populated areas. Employment will begin in June and will continue into
mid to late August. The work will involve the application of mosquito biological larvicide to the urban catchbasins
using a motorized scooter. Students will be required to work 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday;
and are required to begin at 7:00 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Some alternate shift times, travel to neighboring
municipalities and overnight stays may be required from time to time.

Qualifications
Students will face physically and mentally demanding work conditions and therefore need to be highly
motivated, energetic, committed, and in good physical shape. Outdoor work is a very considerable component
of these positions, and sometimes the weather can be inclement during summer months. Candidates must
have a valid driver's licence and a good driving record. Operation of company vehicles is expected. Summer
employees will also need to be in possession of a valid pesticide technician's certificate and provide
documentation that they have completed the on-line course for scooter operation. Candidates must agree to a
1 to 2 day orientation session including safe scooter operation. Training for safe scooter operation and
applicator certification will be provided during the orientation session and at no cost to the individual. It is
considered an asset to be familiar with GPS technology and familiar with working from maps, or have
employment experience driving. Experience with safe scooter (or motorcycle) operation will also be considered
an asset.
